The Best Way to Raise Bilingual Kids
As part of the Lee Kuan Yew Fund for Bilingualism’s sustained outreach and engagement initiatives, the Fund has been curating an annual Community Series comprising talks and workshops led by esteemed professionals and practitioners in the fields of language education, early childhood development, and bilingual pedagogy. These sessions serve as key platforms for disseminating evidence-based practices and fostering dialogue on the importance of bilingualism in Singapore’s multilingual landscape.
The 2025 edition of the Community Series was themed ”The Best Way to Raise Bilingual Kids”, aligning with the Fund’s commitment to supporting parents in nurturing bilingual competencies from an early age. Held on 8 March 2025 from 10.00am to 11.30am, the session featured two distinguished speakers: Dr Raudhah Yahya, Senior Curriculum Specialist at the National Institute of Early Childhood Development (NIEC), and Professor Dr Yow Wei Quin, Head of the Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences Cluster at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD).
Drawing an attendance of approximately 200 participants, the session generated high levels of engagement and interest, with attendees expressing a strong desire to deepen their understanding of effective strategies for fostering bilingual development in children. The event underscored the community’s appetite for accessible, research-informed guidance in navigating the bilingual learning journey.
