About the Fund

Overview Chinese Malay Tamil

The establishment of the Lee Kuan Yew Fund for Bilingualism (the "Fund") was announced by Mr Lee Kuan Yew on 28 November 2011, at the launch of his new book, “My Lifelong Challenge: Singapore’s Bilingual Journey”. The Fund is set up as a Company Limited by Guarantee, with Charity and Institution of a Public Character status.

Apart from promoting bilingualism from a young age, the Fund also hopes to encourage the active use of bilingualism amongst youths. Equipping them with proficiency in both English and their Mother Tongue Languages not only prepares them for a globalised environment but also fortifies their connection to our rich Asian heritage.

LKYFB was set up to supplement efforts by the Ministry of Education (MOE) in the teaching and learning of English and the Mother Tongue Languages.

What the Fund Does

Our Mother Tongue Languages, heritage, and culture form an integral part of Singapore's identity and asset. The Fund supports proposals targeted towards youths or pre-schoolers that encourage bilingualism and the learning of our Mother Tongue Languages as living languages and lifelong endeavours.

关于李光耀双语基金

概述

李光耀双语基金是李光耀先生于2011年11月在他的新书《我一生的挑战：新加坡双语之路》发布会上正式宣布成立的。

随着家庭用语的改变，成立李光耀双语基金的目的是要促进双语教育，并辅助教育部加强英语与母语的教学。除了培养学前儿童对学习双语的热忱，基金也希望鼓励年轻人善用双语，在用英语与世界交流的同时，也通过母语了解自己的文化根源，加强身份认同感。

Gambaran Keseluruhan

Dana Kedwibahasaan Lee Kuan Yew (“Dana”) telah diumumkan buat pertama kalinya sewaktu pelancaran buku Encik Lee Kuan Yew, “My Lifelong Challenge: Singapore’s Bilingual Journey” pada November 2011.

Selain daripada menggalakkan ilmu dwibahasa dari usia kecil, Dana ini turut berharap untuk memupuk penggunaan dwibahasa secara aktif dalam kalangan belia. Usaha bagi memastikan mereka menguasai Bahasa Inggeris dan Bahasa Melayu bukan sahaja mempersiapkan mereka kepada dunia yang lebih global tetapi memperkukuhkan jati diri mereka.

Dana LKYFB telah dibangunkan untuk melengkapi usaha Kementerian Pendidikan (MOE) dalam Pengajaran dan Pembelajaran Bahasa Inggeris dan Bahasa-bahasa Ibunda.

இருமொழிக் கல்விக்கான லீ குவான் யூ நிதி, திரு லீ குவான் யூவின் ‘எனது வாழ்நாள் சவால்: சிங்கப்பூரின் இருமொழிப் பயணம்’ புத்தக வெளியீட்டு விழாவின் போது முதன் முதலில் நவம்பர் 2011 அன்று அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது.

மாறி வரும் வீட்டு மொழிச் சூழலில் இந்நிதி இருமொழிக் கல்வியை வளர்ப்பதையும், ஆங்கிலம், தாய்மொழிகளின் கற்றலிலும் கற்பித்தலிலும் கல்வி அமைச்சின் முயற்சிகளை ஊக்கப்படுத்துவதையும் நோக்கமாகக் கொண்டுள்ளது. இந்நிதி பாலர் பள்ளி நிலையிலான முயற்சிகளை ஊக்கப்படுத்துவதிலும் இளையர்கள் மத்தியில் இருமொழிப் புழக்கத்தை ஊக்கப்படுத்துவதிலும் அதிக அக்கறை கொண்டுள்ளது. அதே வேளையில் மொழி கற்றலுக்கு ஆதரவான மொழிச் சூழலை உருவாக்கித்தர, இந்நிதி பாலர் பள்ளிகள், இல்லங்கள், சமூகம் ஆகியவற்றை உள்ளடக்கிய அனைத்து முயற்சிகளையும் ஊக்குவிப்பதிலும் அக்கறை கொண்டுள்ளது.

நம் தாய்மொழிகள், மரபுடைமை, கலாச்சாரம் ஆகியவை சிங்கப்பூரின் அடையாளம் மற்றும் மதிப்பு ஆகியவற்றின் முக்கிய அங்கங்களாகத் திகழ்கின்றன. இருமொழிக் கல்வியையும் தாய்மொழிகளை வாழும் மொழிகளாக வாழ்நாள் முழுவதும் நீடித்திருக்கவும் உதவும் செயல்திட்டங்களுக்கு இந்நிதி ஆதரவு வழங்கி வருகிறது.
